The Indian Premier League is known to produce some exciting brand of cricket. Every season, the tournament sees numerous close finishes unfold for the audiences. The 10th edition of the tournament was no different. After 55 closely contested games and a wash out encounter, the four teams for the playoffs got finalized. The road to the playoffs was not easy and it took some special knocks that etched their names in the best finishes this season.

The Mumbai Indians managed to finish on the top of the points table after the conclusion of the league stages. They were a part of some close finishes this season. One of their fixtures was a tied encounter against the Gujarat Lions. MI camp showed great maturity to often end up on the winning side. In all fairness, the MI camp was not the only team getting close finishes. All teams had their moments of glory and their spells of agony.

After a highly entertaining match at Delhi between Gujarat Lions and Delhi Daredevils, the two teams locked horns for the reverse fixture at Kanpur. It proved to be yet another high scoring affair. Gujarat Lions posted a mammoth 195/5 in their 20 overs riding on a brisk 69 from Aaron Finch. In response, the Daredevils were struggling with only 92 runs to their score at the half way stage and four wickets in the den.

Shreyas Iyer held the fort for the Delhi camp. With a fifty to his name, he looked good for more. In the final over, 9 runs were needed to win and Iyer was batting on 96. A four would have helped him reach his personal milestone. After taking two leg byes on the first ball, Iyer was cleaned up by Basil Thampi on 96 (57). With 8 wickets down, 7 runs was still needed. In walked Amit Mishra and hit two consecutive fours to seal the match for Delhi Daredevils.
