IPL 10: Virender Sehwag hails Sandeep Sharma's top show

Former Indian cricketer Virender Sehwag was mighty pleased with the performance of the Kings XI Punjab in the previous game. Kings XI Punjab successfully defended a total as low as 138 against the batting might of the Royal Challengers Bangalore at Bengaluru recently. They bowled out the opposition for a mere 119 to help themselves stay alive in the competition for the playoffs.

One man who held the fort for them in the match was pace bowler Sandeep Sharma. It was a superlative spell from him that proved to be the difference between the two sides on the day. Virender Sehwag, who is the Director of Cricket Operations of the KXIP, showered praises on the young pacer for his brilliant effort with the ball. Sandeep became the first ever bowler to dismiss the trio of Chris Gayle, AB de Villiers and Virat Kohli in the same innings in the history of the IPL.

He started off his excellent display of swing bowling by getting rid of Chris Gayle on a duck. He then got through the defenses of Virat Kohli and capped off the spell with the wicket of AB de Villiers with an outswinger. With figures of 3/22 in his four overs, Sandeep served his case for the Player of the Match. Needless to say, he drew praises from all corners after the match.

Virender Sehwag followed the list of pundits to laud his efforts on the day. Sehwag took to micro-blogging site Twitter to hail the performance of the team and Sandeep Sharma. He wrote, “Great performance by Sandeep to become the 1st man to get all Gayle, Virat, ABD in a match. Axar Patel was brilliant. Congratulations Team !”

A very modest Sharma acknowledged the good wishes and responded back to Sehwag’s tweet. He wrote,  “Thank You Paji, tuhade light environment layi.”
