Two-time IPL Champions Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) have gone off to a sensational start in Vivo IPL 10 after 3 out of their 4 matches so far. They looked a thoroughly professional unit in their previous encounter against the defending champion Sunrisers Hyderabad and outplayed them in each and every department of the game.

Robin Uthappa roared back to form batting at the No.3 position and played some exceptional shots en route to quick fire 68. He should have been dismissed in the very first ball but the onfield umpire made a blunder and ruled it in favour of the batting team. He made full use of the opportunity and ensured KKR reached a competitive total of more than 170 runs.

Their bowling department also looks solid with spinners Sunil Narine and Kuldeep Yadav leading the pack. The fast bowling department has also been bolstered by the return of Umesh Yadav to go with international starts like Trent Boult and Chris Woakes. Suryakumar Yadav is due for runs and he will surely look to make some runs against Delhi Daredevils.

The Delhi outfit, on the other hand, has made an inspired comeback after losing their opening encounter. They looked a class apart against the Rising Pune Supergiant and followed it up with another professional performance against the Kings XI Punjab. Their batting line-up has fired all cylinders in the last two games which have been a huge plus for them.

Sanju Samson scored a brilliant century against RPS but it was Chirs Morris’ sensational 9 balls 38 which propelled them to a big total. Captain Zaheer Khan has led from the front and despite not being at his menacing best, the left-arm seamer has been pretty effective. Aussie speedster Pat Cummins has also bowled exceptionally in Indian conditions which will be a big plus for DD as the tournament progresses. So with more than 24 hours to go for the 18th match of the competition to commence let us have a look at the match predictions.

Here is what Crictracker predicts for the game:

Scenario 1: KKR will win the toss

Toss Prediction: KKR choose to bowl

First innings prediction: 165-175

2nd innings Prediction: KKR will win by 7 wickets (with 2 overs to spare)

Scenario 2: DD will win the toss

Toss Prediction: DD choose to bowl

First innings Prediction: 185-190

2nd innings Prediction: KKR will win by 13-15 runs

Head to Head Record

Overall: Total Matches – 18, KKR Won – 10, DD Won – 7

In Delhi: Total Matches- 6, KKR Won- 4, DD Won- 2

Both teams will be high on confidence after winning their previous two encounters and will come all guns blazing. Delhi will be playing in front of their home crowd which will be an added advantage to them but irrespective of the conditions, KKR looks a settled line-up in each and every department and it will be a difficult task for Delhi to overhaul them. Besides that, they have a superior record against DD with 0 wins out of the 18 encounters.

Team Combinations

Delhi Daredevils

The home team will be high on confidence after exceptional performances against Pune and Kings XI Punjab. They were thoroughly professional in each and every department of the game and outplayed their occasions. Their batting department looks solid with Sanju Samson and Sam Billings looking ominous.

Teenager Rishabh Pant has played some breezy innings and it is high time that the team management decides to push him up the order. With the form he is in, the southpaw definitely deserves a chance up the order. Kagiso Rabada who was bought at a whopping price in the auctions is yet to make his debut while Mohammad Shami hasn’t got a chance either.

Predicted XI: Shreyas Iyer, Sam Billings, Karun Nair Sanju Samson, Rishabh Pant (wk), Corey Anderson, Chris Morris,  Pat Cummins, Amit Mishra, Shahbaz Nadeem, Zaheer Khan ©

Kolkata Knight Riders

Their team combination will remain pretty much the same as they don’t want to tinker with their winning combination. Nathan Coulter-Nile can be the possible replacement for Chris Woakes who hasn’t performed to his potential in the tournament so far. Colin de Grandhomme has also been preferred ahead of Shakib Al Hasan in the last two matches and it can change in tomorrow’s match.

Their new opening combination of Gautam Gambhir and Sunil Narine looked in ominous touch against Punjab but couldn’t follow it up in the next match. The middle order also looks pretty settled but Yusuf Pathan and Suryakumar Yadav will definitely look to get back some run-scoring form tomorrow. They have also been bolstered by the return of Umesh Yadav and Robin Uthappa’s return to form.

Predicted XI: Gautam Gambhir ©, Sunil Narine, Robin Uthappa, Manish Pandey, Suryakumar Yadav, Yusuf Pathan, Shakib AL Hasan, Nathan Coulter-Nile, Umesh Yadav, Kuldeep Yadav

The odds are tilted in favour of the visitors but given the form, DD has been in it won’t be a surprise if KKR suffers their 2nd defeat tomorrow.
