Defending Champions Sunrisers Hyderabad came back to winning ways in their yesterday’s encounter against Kings XI Punjab by defeating them in a nail-biting thriller by 5 runs. It was the exceptional bowling performance by Bhuvneshwar Kumar which enabled them to clinch victory from a very tricky situation. The right arm medium pacer finished with exceptional figures of 5/18 and bagged two wickets in the penultimate over to peg the visitors back.

Captain David Warner played a good hand but didn’t look anywhere close to his best. He scratched his way through to a score of 70 of 54 deliveries. Wicket-keeper batsman Naman Ojha looked in good touch and played some delightful shots en route to his 20 balls 34. Bhuvi provided them with the much-needed breakthrough early on in the form of Hashim Amla’s wicket and then added another with the wicket of Glenn Maxwell.

They will be pretty delighted with their victory after losing two encounters on a bounce. They began pretty well by winning their first couple of encounters against RCB and Gujarat Lions but faltered in their next two outings. They were pretty ordinary in all 3 departments as Mumbai Indians and Kolkata Knight Ridders made full use of their complacency.

The bowling department has looked pretty solid with Bhuvneshwar Kumar and leg-spinner from Afghanistan Rashid Khan looking in ominous rhythm. The young leggie has bowled some exceptional deliveries and the one to David Miller yesterday was purely magic. The star left-hander was beaten for pace as he didn’t have any idea to counter him.

On the other hand, Delhi Daredevils is going through a topsy-turvy season this far winning 2 and losing 2. After losing their opening encounter to RCB, Delhi came back pretty strongly in their next two matches by registering exceptional victories against Rising Pune Supergiant and Kings XI Punjab. Their batting order has looked power packed with two young Indian guns hogging the limelight.

Sanju Samson and Rishabh Pant has looked in ominous touch in the season so far and it is because of their purple patch that DD managed to turn their fortunes and register a couple of important victories in their 2nd and 3rd matches. The bowling department looks pretty settled too with Zaheer Khan leading the pack. So with more than 12 hours to go for the 21st match of the competition to commence here we have a look at the match predictions for tomorrow.

Here is what Crictracker predicts for the game:

Scenario 1: SRH will win the toss

Toss Prediction: SRH choose to bowl

First innings prediction: 170-175

2nd innings Prediction: SRH will win by 5 wickets (with an over to spare)

Scenario 2: DD will win the toss

Toss Prediction: DD choose to bowl

First innings Prediction: 180-185

2nd innings Prediction: SRH will win by 17 runs

Head to Head Record

Overall: Total Matches – 8, SRH Won – 6, DD Won – 2

In Hyderabad: Total Matches- 2, SRH Won- 1, DD Won- 1

The head to head record is firmly in tilted in favour of the defending champions but given the promise DD has shown in this season so far we have a pretty exciting contest on our hands. The hosts have won 6 out of the 8 matches played against DD so far and will definitely look to add more to their kitty tomorrow.

Team Combinations

Sunrisers Hyderabad

After the win against the Kings XI Punjab, the defending champions won’t tinker with their combination much except for a few strategical moves here and there. Despite going for 34 runs in the only match he played Mustafizur Rahman deserves at least one more chance given the lethal abilities he possesses as a limited overs bowler.

Ben Cutting might get the nod ahead of his countryman Moises Henriques given the all-round abilities he possesses. Veteran pacer Ashish Nehra is expected to be back at the expense of Barinder Sran who conceded 29 runs in the 2 overs he bowled yesterday. The rest of the team is expected to remain the same and the two Afghan spinners Rashid Khan and Mohammad Nabi is expected to retain their places.

Predicted XI: David Warner, Shikhar Dhawan, Yuvraj Singh, Ben Cutting, Naman Ojha, Deepak Hooda, Mohammad Nabi, Rashid Khan, Siddharth Kaul, Ashish Nehra, Bhuvneshwar Kumar

Delhi Daredevils

Sri Lankan captain who played his first match in this season in the previous encounter might make way for the hard-hitting Corey Anderson. Matthews didn’t look comfortable in the middle with the bat and was unable to unleash the big shots. Mohammad Shami who also played his first match of the edition against KKR might be replaced by left-arm tweaker Shahbaz Nadeem who was unexpectedly left out from the XI in the previous match.

With Pat Cummins bowling with venom and accuracy, South African sensation Kagiso Rabada has to wait to make his IPL debut. Apart from the changes mentioned above, the remaining XI will the same from the previous encounter. One more change which I will like to see is Rishabh Pant batting up the order. He has been a prolific run scorer and has shown tremendous promise in the tournament so far so deserves to open the innings with Billings.

Predicted XI: Rishabh Pant, Sam Billings, Sanju Samson, Shreyas Iyer, Karun Nair, Corey Anderson, Chris Morris, Pat Cummins, Shahbaz Nadeem, Amit Mishra, Zaheer Khan.

The odds are tilted in favour of Sunrisers Hyderabad with a 6-2 scoreline in the head to head record but given Delhi Daredevil’s impressive showing in the tournament so far we might be in for a surprise.
