Finally after loads of excitement and thrilling anticipations, the eleventh edition of the Indian Premier League (IPL) is just a few hours away to welcome a new beginning to the Twenty20 cricket festival. In the opening encounter of the season, the defending champions Mumbai Indians would be facing the rejuvenated Chennai Super Kings at the iconic Wankhede Stadium, later in the day.

All the eight teams which boost some spectacular and remarkable line-ups in their ranks to sparkle the field as well the franchise owners are equally excited to start this new carnival of T20 cricket.

Adam Gilchrist sends his best wishes for all the teams

Former Australian cricketer and also a former IPL captain Adam Gilchrist wished his former IPL franchise, Kings XI Punjab owner Preity Zinta, all the very best for the upcoming season. The former Australian wicket-keeper batsman was part of the Kings XI Punjab roster during the 2011-2013 season and has also captained the team in the global tournament. Gilchrist featured in the last outing of his formidable IPL career in 2013 against the Mumbai Indians and was then awarded a memorable farewell by his teammates after the match.

However, the former Aussie limited overs opener started his IPL career with the Deccan Chargers Hyderabad team in 2008. After a poor finish on the last spot in the first season, Gilchrist captained the Hyderabad team outstandingly well and thus the franchise lifted the prestigious title in 2009. Then in 2009, he also became the only second Australian captain after Shane Warne to captain an IPL side in a successful winning campaign. Along with Kings XI Punjab, the former cricketer also showered his wishes and blessings for the rest of the teams participating this year in the IPL extravaganza.

Here is the tweet

“As #IPL kicks off today I would like to wish @lionsdenkxip & all our fans & supporters All the very best  #teambus #redforever #punjab” tweeted Preity.

“All the best @realpreityzinta to you and your team. In fact, best wishes to all @VIVOIPL_2018 teams for another entertaining season” wrote Gilchrist on Twitter in his wishes for the eight teams.
