IPL 2018: BARC data reveals the most followed team, most loved channel

The ongoing season of the Indian Premier League (IPL) has made sure that the fans are glued to the TV, and are enjoying some exciting cricket featuring the top players from around the world as they attempt to win the coveted trophy for their respective franchises. Return of the two old teams, Chennai Super Kings and Rajasthan Royals has made the tournament even special as they enjoy a huge fan following and fans want to see every bit of it having missed them for the last couple of years.
Star Sports 1 Hindi most watched in the 17th week
According to Broadcast Audience Research Council, in the 17th week of the year, Star Sports 1 which broadcasts the IPL featuring Hindi commentary gained significant viewership. While the matches that involved MS Dhoni-led Chennai Super Kings were watched by more people than any other game.
Notably, the other channels that cover sports have seen a decline in the viewership when compared to the data from the previous week. As per the details on BARC website where they have release weekly numbers Star Sports 1 Hindi tops the chart with 985,930,000 impressions the All India (U+R): NCCS All: 2+ Individuals.
Interestingly, CSK skipper MS Dhoni has shown some sublime form in the tournament which can be one reason why the CSK is the most-watched team of the tournament. Their match against Virat Kohli-led RCB attracted more viewers than any other game during the week with 16,697,000 impressions which is much higher when compared to last week’s most match between Chennai and Kings XI Punjab that had 15,395,000 impressions.
As far as sports category is concerned, all the channels that are broadcasting the IPL matches live are at the top.
