The eleventh edition of the Indian Premier League will miss a handful number of players due to injuries. The list keeps getting bigger day by day as franchises are finding it difficult to name replacements at short notices. Mitchell Starc, Pat Cummins, Kagiso Rabada and Kedar Jadhav are few of the big names who won’t be featuring for their respective franchises due to injuries.

Chennai Super Kings 2.0 have started on a winning note with two thrilling victories. Players like Bravo, Jadhav, Billings, and Watson have stepped up to the occasion to lead their side over the line. However, many players are battling with injuries with few of them ruled out for the entire tournament. David Willey, the English bowler, was named as the replacement for Kedhar Jadhav. He hasn’t joined the side yet as his VISA process is not yet complete.

Mounting injury problems

CSK will already be without the services of Suresh Raina who is battling a calf injury and Willey will also not be available for the next game against the Kings XI Punjab on April 15. He opted to play for CSK over his county Yorkshire that did not go well with the Yorkshire management. Leaving the side at such short notices always dents the chances of the team in any tournament.

Suresh Raina will miss an IPL game for CSK for the first time. In the history of IPL, Raina has missed only one game which was back in 2016 for the Gujarat Lions. Also, the IPL games have been moved out of Chennai due to security issues and Pune is all set to be the new home for CSK. MS Dhoni had represented the Rising Pune Supergiants in the two seasons in which the Super Kings were suspended. Thus, he is a popular figure in Pune and fans are surely expected to back the veteran and his side.

Squad: MS Dhoni, Ravindra Jadeja, Suresh Raina, Dwayne Bravo, Karn Sharma, Shane Watson, Shardul Thakur, Ambati Rayudu, Murali Vijay, Harbhajan Singh, Faf Du Plessis, Mark Wood, Sam Billings, Imran Tahir, Deepak Chahar, Mitchell Santner, Lungisani Ngidi, Asif KM, N Jagadeesan, Kanishk Seth, Monu Singh, Dhruv Shorey, Kshitiz Sharma, Chaitanya Bishnoi, David Willey.
