IPL 2018: Franchises congratulate their players after being picked in the India squad for England tour

The Indian Premier League (IPL) has proved to be a chief platform for the youngsters as well as for the other experienced players to display their individual performances and to be in the contention for national selection or recall. In the eleventh edition as well quite a few players have impressed the selectors with their performances. The BCCI announced the teams for the one-off Test match against Afghanistan, the T20Is against Ireland and England and the ODI squad for the England tour on Tuesday.

IPL performances awarded equal recognition by the selectors

There were a few players who earned the chance to be part of both T20Is and the ODIs for the UK tour on the basis of their stellar show in the ongoing edition of the IPL. The current Orange Cap holder KL Rahul who has been in a terrific form playing for the Kings XI Punjab (KXIP), was picked in each of teams announced by the selectors yesterday. 32-year-old Ambati Rayudu who has been pretty impressive for the Chennai Super Kings (CSK), found himself back in the Indian team for the three-match ODI series against England.

Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) pacer Siddarth Kaul has been an ideal wicket-taking bowler for his skipper this year having picked up 13 wickets in 10 matches received his call-up for the T20Is as well as for the ODIs. The Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) have had a dismal season so far as they are placed in the bottom half of the points table, however, fast bowler Umesh Yadav has been the pick of the bowlers for RCB this season as he has scalped 14 wickets and has bowled some hostile spells, this helped him earn his spot in all of the teams announced.

Franchises congratulate players

The IPL franchises also congratulated the players who were picked up by the national selectors to be part of the Indian team in the upcoming series. SRH wished Manish Pandey, Shikhar Dhawan, Bhuvneshwar Kumar and Kaul. The Delhi Daredevils also congratulated their skipper Shreyas Iyer and fast bowler Mohammed Shami for their selections.

The India A team for the One-Day tri-series and the 4-day matches in England were also announced by the national selectors yesterday. Under-19 cricketers Prithvi Shaw, Shubman Gill, who have put up quite a show in IPL 2018 will make their maiden appearance for India A. Many other players who have played consistently in the domestic circuit have also been picked in the India A teams.
