The Indian Premier League has always promoted the young Indian talent. Over the years, the tournament has become the breeding ground for the talented youngsters who get a chance to play with the biggest names in the world cricket. Among the many beneficiaries of this tournament is Prasidh Krishna. The young pacer from Karnataka was recently drafted in to the Kolkata Knight Riders camp as a replacement for Kamlesh Nagarkoti.
Krishna is yet to make his IPL debut but is certainly looking forward to the big opportunity. As per the quotes on the official website of the Kolkata Knight Riders, Prasidh Krishna noted that he feels happy to be back in Kolkata as it has always been a happy hunting ground for him in the domestic cricket.
“I am happy I am in Kolkata, because Eden Gardens has been a good hunting ground for me for the past two years. So it’s like a blessing in disguise, getting a call-up from Kolkata Knight Riders,” Prasidh Krishna quoted.
Commenting on the coaching staff that boasts of names like Jacques Kallis, Simon Katich, and Heath Streak, Prasidh remarked that they are all legends of the game and are excellent coaches. He cited that they treat the younger lot very well and have some very good tips to share on the field.
“They are really good as coaches. That has to be the case for what they have been as cricketers on the field in their days. They are the right people for youngsters like me, because they tell you the right things without getting too technical. They teach you how to be more tactical, and that gives us a lot of confidence,” said Krishna.
On having people from Karnataka in the dressing room
When asked if the likes of Robin Uthappa, Vinay Kumar, A Srikkanth, helped him settle down in the KKR dressing room, M Prasidh Krishna answered in positive. The above mentioned gentlemen hail from the state of Karnataka. Krishna, however, added that it did not take him long to get used to the dressing room culture in the team.
“Definitely. Those three gave me a feeling of comfort when I first came in, when I did not know anyone else. Vinay, Robin and all of us have been playing together for the last two years. It surely made the first few days easy for me. But it didn’t take too long to get used to the dressing room culture over here. Everyone is very nice, even the support staff, who make you feel at home,” conceded the Karnataka lad.
