The upcoming season of the Indian Premier League (IPL) is being marred by the increasing injury list of the key players. After the likes of Jason Behrendorff, Mitchell Starc and Nathan-Coulter Nile, yet another overseas player has been ruled out of the tournament now. Delhi Daredevils is the team which will suffer now as Kagiso Rabada has sustained an injury after playing continuously in the recently concluded home season of South Africa. However, he will be out of the action for three months and will miss the whole season of IPL.

Rabada recently played in the highly draining four-match Test series against Australia. He was named the Man of the Series as well for his consistent performances for his team. Delhi would’ve loved to have him in the team with the form he is currently in. But now they will be missing his services for this season and will have to rope in a replacement as soon as possible.

CSA confirms the news

Cricket South Africa (CSA) released an official statement regarding an injury to Kagiso Rabada and confirmed the news on Thursday. He has suffered a lower back stress reaction during the four-match Test series against Australia. Proteas team manager Dr Mohammed Mossajee cleared that the cricketer will be needing rest from all the physical activity to recover from an injury.

“Kagiso has been diagnosed with a lower back stress reaction which will rule him out of cricket action for up to three months. He will need a month’s break from all physical activity before commencing with a rehabilitation programme to get him ready for the series against Sri Lanka in July,” he said according to the statement.

Delhi Daredevils will now have to find an able replacement for him soon as they will play their opening encounter against Kings XI Punjab on April 8.
