IPL 2018: Lucky fan turns Lakhpati after one handed screamer in the stands

The game of cricket has been a medium of commercialization for several years. Hefty amounts are being shelled out for players in the field. Moreover, even the crowds have incentives nowadays which has added a whole new dimension to the game. Catches fetch wickets for the fielding team, however, they also turn lucky for the crowd, provided the leather sails into stands.

Recently, a fan in the sea of audience caught a magnificent one-handed catch, which immediately came on the spotlight. The occurrence sparked in the final over of Mumbai Indians innings. Rohit Sharma was batting on 84 runs off 49 balls and in the third ball of the over from Corey Anderson, Rohit lofted a full-toss outside the off-stump over the covers for a monstrous six.

While the stroke added to the despair of the Challengers, the fan in the stadium erupted in joy after pulling off the stunning catch. Subsequently, as per the Tata Nexa Initiative, he has been presented with a cheque of Rs 1 Lakh after the game.

Rohit Sharma and Hardik Pandya flayed their willows and garnered some much important runs for the home team. The onslaught by Rohit and Co, eventually turned out to be insurmountable for the Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) as they slumped to their third successive defeat by 46 runs. The skipper of the Mumbai Indians, eventually, found his rhythm, much to the delight of the home team.

During the run-chase, RCB began handsomely as Quinton de Kock and Virat Kohli came out all guns blazing. However, the Red Army lost de Kock to Mitchell McClenaghan, which pushed them back significantly. Thereafter, it was a one-way traffic in favour of Mumbai. Virat Kohli was the lone man standing for the Challengers as Mumbai registered their maiden victory of the campaign.
