IPL 2018: Manish Pandey’s drop catch amuses MS Dhoni

The Sunrisers Hyderabad and the Chennai Super Kings have been the two best sides of the current edition of the IPL. Though both the sides have been successful in the competition, they have used different methods to get positive results. The orange army has relied heavily on their bowlers while CSK’s batsmen have come to the party.

When SRH faced CSK in Hyderabad, the teams were involved in a nail-biting finish that saw the Yellow army prevail over the home side. On Sunday, CSK hosted SRH in Pune and it promised to be another closely fought encounter. In the end, it was CSK’s batting that emerged as the winner and bagged two important points. The orange army found it difficult to get wickets and the bowlers weren’t helped by some sloppy fielding. Manish Pandey dropped a sitter at long on much to the amusement of MS Dhoni while Shakib Al Hasan wasn’t pleased with the effort at all.

A morale-boosting victory

While the dropped catch did not make much difference as CSK were cruising anyways, Manish Pandey was heavily criticized on social media for his poor effort. It seemed that Pandey took it took lightly and that was the reason for the ball bouncing out of his hands. In the video, fans can clearly see that Pandey’s drop amused MS Dhoni.

The two points take CSK to 16 points which all but ensures their place into the playoffs. It was a much needed win for the yellow brigade who lost the winning momentum in the last three games. The Sunrisers Hyderabad will not be too worried about the result as they still remain on top of the points table. Their bowling has come under the scanner in the last two games and they must ensure that players do not lose confidence. The bowlers must keep up the good work that they have been doing over the major part of the tournament.
