The game between Kings XI Punjab and Delhi Daredevils was a battle of heavyweights not for the star players on either side but for the players who fetched big prices in the auction. All the 22 players featured in this game fetched over one crore in the auction/retained prices. The game witnessed the fastest fifty in the IPL history as KXIP’s KL Rahul needed only 14 deliveries for his fifty. The home team accounted for a comfortable win after Rahul’s blitz in the first three overs.

Rahul scored 51 in just 15 balls he faced with six fours and four sixes. He also took a catch behind the stumps while keeping during the DD’s innings. Rahul valued 59 lakhs for his performances in this game as per the CricTracker’s player value algorithm and thus was the highest valued player. DD’s skipper Gautam Gambhir valued 58.5 lakhs for his 55-run knock that included five fours and a six. Karun Nair, who was the other player to score a fifty in the game, valued 54.5 lakhs as per CT’s algorithm.

It turned out to be a tie for deciding the liable player of the game as Delhi Daredevils’ Amit Mishra and Colin Munro earned only two lakhs from this game. Mishra is adjudged as the liable player as the franchise bought him for Rs. 4 crore in the auction against Rs.1.9 crore spent on Colin Munro. Mishra delivered four dot balls while Munro scored four runs in the game. Andrew Tye and Mayank Agarwal turned out to be the liable players in the game for KXIP as their performances valued at 4.5 lakhs only.

Gambhir was bought for only 2.8 crores by DD and gains at an average of 20 lakhs every game in the season. His match value of 58 lakhs is equivalent to 2.93 times his average match salary. Daniel Christian returned with 1.91 times his average match salary as his match performances are valued at 20.5 lakhs while he was picked for only 1.5 crores by DD. Mishra’s match value is equivalent to 0.07 of his average match salary of 28.6 lakhs.
