IPL 2018, Match 22: Delhi Daredevils vs Kings XI Punjab – Best memes/gifs

Kings XI Punjab regained their top spot in the IPL 2018 points table by beating the Delhi Daredevils in a low scoring thriller last night at the Firoz Kotla Ground. It was an outstanding bowling performance by the visitors as they managed to defend 143 under dewy conditions.

The surface was not the easiest to bat on as there was no pace in it for the batsman to use it for stroke-play, however 143 was still a tad under-par and the Delhi Daredevils were the firm favourites when they got off to a quick start courtesy some crisp stroke-play from the young opener Prithvi Shaw who was on his IPL debut.

However, once Punjab got through Shaw and broke the opening partnership between him and Gambhir, they just kept pushing Delhi behind. Not only they squeezed them by bowling a number of dot balls in the middle overs but chipped away with wickets as well at regular intervals.

Shreyas Iyer played a fighting knock and held the fort for the hosts alone, but he couldn’t attack as much as he should have in the middle overs and ended up leaving a few too many to score at the end which he couldn’t do eventually.

Although Iyer remained unbeaten with a half-century to his name, Delhi still remained short of the target, much to the disappointment of the crowd which had gathered at Kotla to support them.

Delhi has never won IPL in the past, but with Gautam Gambhir coming back as captain and Ricky Ponting being appointed as head coach, the fans had massive expectations with the team this season. But sadly the team’s performance has remained poor as they have lost 5 matches out of 6 and find themselves right at the bottom of the table at the moment.
