Champions do come back from worst positions. The statement was proved true by Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) against Mumbai Indians (MI) as they defended the lowest total of the season 118 successfully and thumped the defending champions by a massive margin of 31 runs. It was their bowlers who clinched the victory for the visitors and were absolutely spot on with their line and lengths on the day. However, Mumbai have now lost their way completely after losing 5 matches out of 6 and need to sort out things soon.

After being invited to bat first, Sunrisers’s skipper Kane Williamson batted patiently to score 29 runs but all the batsmen got out by playing poor shots. Only Yusuf Pathan supported him as he too scored 29 runs even as Mayank Markande scalped 2/15 in his brilliant spell of leg-spin bowling. The visitors were guilty of not playing their full quota of overs and they were skittled out for a meagre total of 118 runs in the 19th over.

But very few knew that the score would be more than enough for Mumbai as the hosts kept on losing the wickets at regular intervals. The shots played by Ishan Kishan and Rohit Sharma were absolutely reckless which started the collapse for them. Mumbai though were consolidated by Krunal Pandya and Suryakumar Yadav but once that partnership was broken, it was all one-way traffic. SRH displayed one of their best performances of the season and showed they are still the best bowling attack without Bhuvneshwar Kumar.

It was a handsome victory for them as they deservedly celebrated it in the middle. Nobody gave them even half a chance in the innings break and the way they roared back in the game is commendable.

Man of the Match, Rashid Khan said:

Thanks to almighty. It feels quite good and comeback after a loss. We get to learn a lot of things from the coaching staff. They keep motivating me. They ask me to stay relaxed and that’s what brings the best out of me.

Whatever you do, you have to stay relaxed and stick to your basics. We win or lose, the management has always kept us in good positive space.

Sunrisers Hyderabad captain, Kane Williamson said:

Clearly a tough surface. We were expecting a lot more from our batsmen. It is good fun. T20 obviously so much is happening so quickly. A fantastic second half for us, but we are still to put a complete team performance.

There is depth in our squad which is important and at the same time the best part is how well the guys performed in the second half of the game.

Mumbai Indians captain, Rohit Sharma said:

We have got ourselves to blame. We should chase down 118 on any wicket, we didn’t show character, the Sunrisers did. Very happy with the way we bowled, they did a brilliant job, but the batsmen let us down once again. There are so many points that I can talk about, but don’t want to pinpoint faults now.

We needed to show some intent, which we failed today. We knew it was a tough chase, shot making wasn’t easy, we wanted to have intent at the start. They bowled at the right areas, kept us guessing and we couldn’t recover. Few of us played some bad shots, including myself.
