Delhi Daredevils (DD) will face the indomitable Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) in what is supposed to be the last chance to keep their hopes alive in the tournament. Their fortunes are hanging by a thread and even if they manage to win all their remaining 4 matches, Delhi will end up with 14 points and will have to depend on other results to go their way. Though they would want to concentrate on this game first and chalk out the plans to get past the strong visiting outfit at the Ferozshah Kotla Stadium.

The team has been doing well under the leadership of Shreyas Iyer who has been leading from the front by scoring runs at the top of the order. The likes of Prithvi Shaw and Rishabh Pant have also come to the party but more established in the line-up have failed miserably for them. The team management would want them to fire for one last time and gain momentum at least at the backend of the season. Though it also remains to be seen if Glenn Maxwell will be dropped after consistent failures.

The visitors have no worries whatsoever as they are sitting pretty at the top of the points table. They are expected to win this game but they will not make a mistake of taking the hosts lightly. There is a little bit of a worry in the batting department but the bowling is more than making up for them more often than not. If Shikhar Dhawan and Alex Hales fire together at the top, the Orange Army will certainly be unstoppable.

Team Combinations

Delhi Daredevils

The hosts are unlikely to make a wholesale of changes to their side and back the group which has been doing well of late. Glenn Maxwell will get one more opportunity at the top after being run-out unluckily in the last game. Mohammed Shami might come back in place of Avesh Khan who has leaked runs in the last couple of matches. The onus will once again be on the Indian youngsters to take the team through as the likes of Plunkett and Christian are expected to chip in to make crucial contributions to the team’s cause.

Probable XI: Prithvi Shaw, Glenn Maxwell, Shreyas Iyer (c), Rishabh Pant (wk), Vijay Shankar, Daniel Christian, Shahbaz Nadeem, Amit Mishra, Liam Plunkett, Mohammed Shami, Trent Boult

Sunrisers Hyderabad

Hyderabad would look to rest Bhuvneshwar Kumar in this game after the match-winning over he bowled against  RCB. Also, Manish Pandey has got enough opportunities and they just can’t continue with him now as the talented Deepak Hooda is sitting out for him. The rest of the line-up should be the same with Basil Thampi coming in again. The team management will be extremely pleased with the way Yusuf Pathan has been playing in this season. He has finished matches with authority and would love to see him doing the same.

Probable XI: Alex Hales, Shikhar Dhawan, Kane Williamson (c), Deepak Hooda, Wriddhiman Saha (wk), Shakib Al Hasan, Yusuf Pathan, Rashid Khan, Basil Thampi, Siddarth Kaul, Sandeep Sharma

Focus will be on

Rishabh Pant (Delhi Daredevils)

Rishabh Pant has been batting very well this season and has impressed everyone. He has taken the responsibility of steering his side through by batting at a crucial number 4 position and has been successful more often than not. His blistering knock against CSK had almost won them the game from a hopeless position in a tall chase. Though their qualification chances are bleak now, Pant will have to continue batting in the same vein. Delhi needs his exploits with the bat as he has done well behind the wickets.

Shikhar Dhawan (Sunrisers Hyderabad)

Shikhar Dhawan has lost his touch completely after starting the tournament in blazing fashion. He has been able to score only 197 runs in 9 outings which clearly suggests that the opposition bowlers have completely figured him out. Though a big knock from must be around the corner and even he knows that he needs to perform at the top of the order and provide his team with a blistering start.
