Former England captain Michael Vaughan has been quite vocal of late, about how important IPL has proved to be for the development and exposure of the young Indian cricketers. Currently commentating in the mammoth extravaganza of a tournament, Vaughan has been very much impressed by the standard of U-19 players IPL is producing. Recently he spoke on an Indian sports news website, praising how the Indian Premier League offers the best platform to its new blood to show and sharpen their skills.

In the same context, he compared the situation in Indian U-19 cricket with that of England’s. He has also been very constant in showering similar accolades on social media platforms. A few days back he praised 17-year-old Abhishek Sharma of Delhi Daredevils and tagged him as an “outstanding prospect”.

But not everyone is taking it in a sporting spirit. England pacer Jade Dernbach especially took the comparative analysis to heart and retaliated on Twitter. Dernbach, who has played 24 ODIs and 34 T20Is, tweeted, “Keep plugging the ipl Michael clearly county cricket and our young player’s development is not top of your priorities list.”

The exchange of words started when Cricbuzz uploaded a live video titled, “Per Michael Vaughan, the English domestic circuit could learn a thing or two from its Indian counterpart when it comes to utilising young Under-19 talent,” where Vaughan talks about the matter in detail. Jade Dernbach twitted the reply to a comment made by Australian Michael Di Venuto.

To which Vaughan replied, “Absolutely is Jade .. Passionately care about our system .. Love the fact you are all of a sudden promoting the 4-day game .. wished we had more like you .. I am sure you wouldn’t be interested in an IPL deal at all !!!!!!”
