The Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) have been one of the most dominating teams in this season’s Indian Premier League having won nine out of their 11 games. Yesterday, they played against the Delhi Daredevils (DD) at the Feroz Shah Kotla and they comprehensively won by nine wickets. Subsequently, they also became the first team to qualify for the playoffs of the Indian Premier League (IPL) as DD get knocked out.

The encounter enthralled the audience with some jaw-dropping cricket and though it eventually turned out to be a one-sided contest, the batsmen ensured that there wasn’t any shortage of entertainment. Shreyas Iyer and Co won the toss and elected to bat first, however, Shakib Al Hasan removed both the openers in Prithvi Shaw and Jason Roy and that put the skids under the home team.

The one-sided, yet entertaining clash

Iyer perished cheaply to a run-out which left Delhi in utter shambles. Nevertheless, Rishabh Pant didn’t drop the gun, instead, he took the bowlers by the scruff of the neck and smacked them across the entire circumference of the Kotla. The southpaw notched 128 runs off 63 balls, which included 15 boundaries and seven sixes. Even the likes of Rashid Khan and Bhuvneshwar Kumar couldn’t stem the run-flow.

Delhi racked up 187 runs courtesy of the Pant-blitzkrieg. The run-chase seemed like a steep task, more so when Harshal Patel pinned Alex Hales to draw first blood for the home team. Nevertheless, Shikhar Dhawan and Kane Williamson took charge and made a mockery of the target. Both stalwarts scored half-centuries, which took the Sunrisers to a victory with seven balls to spare.

Rashid didn’t have an overwhelming day from the personal front. Meanwhile, he was struck with awe by the performances of Dhawan, Pant and the SRH skipper. Subsequently, the leg-spinner from Afghanistan took to Twitter and hailed the trio for their jaw-dropping display of batsmanship.
