Ace Indian pace bowler Bhuvneshwar Kumar is one of the mainstays of the Indian team. He is one of the very few Indian players who represent the national side across the three formats of the game. Currently, Bhuvneshwar is plying his trade in the Indian Premier League (IPL) for the Sunrisers Hyderabad franchise. He has had decent success in the tournament thus far.

However, it is worth noting that Bhuvneshwar Kumar has not been playing all the matches for the Sunrisers Hyderabad this season. In his absence, the likes of Sandeep Sharma and Basil Thampi have got their chances to play in the SRH outfit. Sandeep Sharma, in particular, has been the like for like replacement of Bhuvneshwar in the playing eleven.

Amidst this situation, many speculated that all may not be very well with the ace Indian bowler. The doubts about his fitness was on the rise as well. More recently, Kumar had himself clarified that he is not injured and is fit to play. However, he is being rested for some matches and that is nothing but the precautionary measures that Sunrisers Hyderabad have been taking to protect their ace bowler.

BCCI steps in

Now, as per the recent reports in the Times Now, it has emerged that the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) is reportedly having a big hand in this decision making. Reportedly, the BCCI has asked the franchise to rest Bhuvneshwar Kumar. The board is keen on keeping their star players fit and running. They wish to manage the workload of the players.

Considering the fact that the Indian team has a long international season to follow, the board wants the key players to take care of their bodies. Furthermore, it will not be surprising to see more Indian cricketers, the big names in particular, getting rested in the matches to follow in the IPL this season. India’s immediate assignment after the IPL is a one off Test against Afghanistan.
