Corruption surrounding the Indian Premier League (IPL) has been an open secret. Rajasthan Royals have been one of the few franchises who have faced the wrath of punishment owing to spot-fixing scandals. The likes of Ajit Chandila, S Sreesanth and Ankeet Chavan have been found guilty during the 2013 edition of the tournament.

Also, the franchise was handed a suspension of a couple of years along with the Chennai Super Kings (CSK). However, the Royals would be making a comeback in the upcoming edition. Meanwhile, the who’s who of the management has decided to employ some stern steps in order to keep a check on any suspicious activity by the players.

“Security and ethics manual”- Royals

In light of the corrupt practices previously, Rajasthan Royals have employed K.P Raghuvanshi, the former chief of the Maharashtra Anti-Terrorism Squad (ATS), as the chief security and ethics advisor. He will look after the anti-corruption cell of the franchise. Recently, Rajiv Barthakur, the Royals’ executive chairman, updated about the same in a recent media interaction.

“We want to create the first security and ethics manual for cricket. That’s the aim. He (Raghuvanshi) will have his own men, tracking the activities of the players. As of now this will be for the IPL, and we will assess the situation later,”  the executive was quoted as saying by Sportstar. Meanwhile, the retired officer also talked to the media regarding his stint with the franchise.

“The Royals approached me and I have taken it up as a part-time role. I will rope in a few officers, who will work closely to ensure things are fine. Based on the past experience, the franchise has engaged me and I have accepted the assignment. We will look into everything in the next two months when the IPL is on,” Raghuvanshi mentioned.
