Young English wicketkeeper-batsman Sam Billings found a new taker in the Indian Premier League auctions this year. It is worth noting that Billings had initially gone unsold at the auctions. However, he was roped in by the Chennai Super Kings on the second day of the auctions. Last year, Billings was a part of the Delhi Daredevils setup. Playing for the Daredevils, Sam Billings had made a decent impact on the tournament a season ago.

Leaving those times behind, the English cricketer is hoping to start afresh at the CSK franchise. He is hoping to learn a few tips from CSK skipper MS Dhoni about wicketkeeping and batting during his stay in India this year for the tournament.

“I’m extremely excited to play in such a great side and learn a lot from all the experienced players that we have. I am very much looking forward to working with (MS) Dhoni, someone whom I have admired as a player for a long time as we play in similar roles ( keeper-bat). So looking forward to learning from him,” noted the English cricketer.

Pressure is always on

Speaking further on the same note, Sam Billings noted that the pressure to perform is always on for any individual. On top of that, the opportunity to play for a franchise as successful as the Chennai Super Kings, Billings knows is going to be big. He sees the opportunity as a hugely exciting one and a fantastic opportunity to showcase his talent at the world stage.

“Ultimately there is pressure every time you walk to the crease representing anyone. It’s more exciting to be a part of this awesome franchise and play with and against the best players in the world. That is why we play the game, to be a part of groups like this and play on the world stage, so I just see it as a hugely exciting and fantastic opportunity to showcase what I can do,” Sam Billings quoted.
