Former Indian captain Sourav Ganguly is eagerly waiting for the 2018 edition of the Indian Premier League. The former cricketer is expecting a very closely contested season. He reckons that there are no clear favorites this time around. This is largely due to the fact that the teams have their players shuffled and there are new recruits in each and every side.

It will be worth watching which franchise gels up well and get their act going at the earliest. As per the recent quotes in India Today, Sourav Ganguly picked two strongest teams ahead of the tournament. Also, he wished Ravichandran Ashwin and Harbhajan Singh – the two competing Indian off-spinners all the luck for the season.

“All the teams are equally balanced. Used to worry about certain teams. Kings XI Punjab and Rajasthan Royals are two of the strongest teams this season. Every team can be successful — Ashwin has a new role this time. Good luck to both Ashwin and Harbhajan for the tournament. Nobody will start favourites this season,” Sourav Ganguly quoted.

The best in eleven years?

Commenting further on the same note, Sourav Ganguly also raised a few questions for the fans to ponder about. He believes that the 2018 edition of the IPL will get the answers for several questions that have been on the minds of the cricket fans.

Many wondered why the Chennai Super Kings retained Suresh Raina. Also, there have many questioning the stakes of MS Dhoni in the shortest format of the game. Similarly, there have been questions on Harbhajan’s longevity. Ganguly feels that the upcoming edition will be the most keenly contested one.

“Raina is a star in the IPL and that’s why CSK have retained him. Is Dhoni still good enough to win it for CSK, can Bhajji do for CSK what he did for Mumbai Indians for so many years? Most keenly contested IPL in the last 10 years,” Ganguly quipped.
