Three individuals were taken into the custody in Kolkata after the local Police had allegedly been betting on an IPL game on Tuesday. These three persons were accused of betting during the game between Royal Challengers Bangalore and the Mumbai Indians held at Mumbai a couple of nights ago.

The police also seized two laptops and 11 mobile phones from the three who were staying at a rented house on Dr GS Bose Road in Kasba. The three accused individuals have been identified as Shamiul Akhtar, Inzamul Haque, and Asadul Zamal — all residents of Raghunathgunj in Murshidabad district.

“We are investigating into their accounts and trying to ascertain whether there was any monetary transaction,” Joint Commissioner of Police (Crime) Praveen Tripathi told reporters. Betting racquets are no strangers, especially during the IPL season. It’ll be a tough few weeks ahead for the Police departments across the country to prevent such activities.

Star Sports under the scrutiny after showing wrong replays

Apart from all the negative activities happening outside the playing arena, some other incidents happening on the field have sparked a huge row. One such incident took place in the game between Mumbai Indians and Royal Challengers Bangalore when the broadcasters had shown the wrong replays when the umpires were referring for a no-ball check.

Umesh Yadav was dismissed in the 19th over by Jasprit Bumrah and Bumrah, as we all know, is no stranger to bowling no-balls. The umpires went upstairs and checked for a no-ball and found that Bumrah was well within the rules. But incidentally, Umesh Yadav was at the non-striker’s end in the replay, whilst he was the batsman who got at the other end.

Clearly, the management of Star Sports is answerable to this issue. Although the game was virtually done by then, it’s a sin to show false details to the viewers who are paying quite a hefty amount to enjoy the IPL action. Although the incident made the fans go bonkers on social media, the BCCI or Star Sports authority is yet to reply to it.
