The eleventh edition of the Indian Premier League (IPL) is currently heading into the business end with teams in a mission to qualify for the playoffs. To make the coverage of the game a lot more interesting and to involve the fans that much more the broadcaster has roped in legends to analyse and present their views on the matches. From the likes of Kumar Sangakkara, David Lloyd and many others, a number of eminent personalities have already made their presence felt in the event.

Recently, former West Indies captain Darren Sammy was roped in by the broadcasters and he will appear in the pre-match analysis show and could also make an appearance in the commentary box. He had put his name in for the IPL 2018 auction, but surprisingly enough, his name never came up in the for bids. He had a base price of INR 75 lakhs when the list of participating cricketers was released.

Nevertheless, he is back into the scheme of things. The St Lucia-born cricketer has been playing T20 cricket in leagues like the Caribbean Premier League as well as the Pakistan Super League. Sammy recently led his PSL team Peshavar Zalmi in the third edition of the tournament. The all-rounder last represented the Windies national team back in the 2016 World T20 in India where he led the team to their second championship victory.

Following his selection by Star Sports, he posted a video where he has been seen sitting with Dean Jones and Brett Lee in the Select Dugout. He also wrote a message along with the post – “My introduction to @StarSportsIndia #SelectDugout was typical @BrettLee_58 style bouncer straight in the face”
