Amidst the ongoing season of the Indian Premier League (IPL) a shocking news surfaced on Sunday (April 15). A woman was allegedly harassed while she was at the Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai. She lodged a complaint with the police and the accused has been arrested, he was also presented in court and has been sent to police custody.

The Wankhede is currently playing host to the Mumbai-based IPL franchise Mumbai Indians. They have hosted a couple of matches in the city thus far. The first of which was the season opener against the returning franchise Chennai Super Kings on April 7. The defending champions played the second home game against Delhi Daredevils last night (April 14).

Mirror Now reported that the woman was harassed by an employee working with a contractor at the stadium. She said that he had passed lewd comments at her. After the complaint, cops swung in action and arrested the worker. He has been sent to police custody for two days.

Though there are no confirmed details available yet, it appears that the incident would’ve happened on one of the match days and most probably on April 7. This comes at a time when there are serious questions asked in the country about the safety of women following a couple of shocking rape cases where girls as young as 8 years old were raped and subject to inhumane behaviour.

MI’s home games

Mumbai Indians are off to yet another dull start to the season. Having played three games, all the matches went down the wire and the team was unable to win either of the matches.

They still have five home games to play of the total 14 they will be playing in the league stages. Rohit Sharma will want to regroup his unit as soon as possible and reignite the spirit that helped them win their third title last season.
