Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) is the only team to have won their first three games and are currently unbeaten in the tournament. Their players have dished out all-round performances owing to which they have been able to get a lid on the opposition. One of the major reasons for their success can be attributed to the starts by the top order.

While Shikhar Dhawan and Kane Williamson, their skipper, have grabbed most of the limelight, Wriddhiman Saha has found the boundaries early on and set the tone for the rest of the innings. The Bengal cricketer recently spoke to the media and talked about the aspects which have clicked for him and the freedom given to him by the Sunrisers Hyderabad fraternity.

“Better my performance”- Wriddhiman Saha

“I like to play my natural game. The coach (Tom Moody) and captain (Kane Williamson) have backed me on this and I have got opportunity to open the innings, which is a plus point. They have told me to play with freedom and play my natural shots, I prefer to hit over the circle when opportunity comes (during the Powerplay overs)” Saha was quoted as saying by PTI.

He scored 22 runs against the Mumbai Indians, which laid the platform for Williamson’s men to chase down the competitive target. Even against the Knights at the Eden Gardens, Saha’s home-ground, he peppered the boundaries without much fuss. Saha also mentioned that his position in the batting lineup would be decided by the team management when asked about whether he would keep opening or not.

“This depends on team management. If I do well as an opener, I will be entrusted to take up the responsibility but if I don’t come up to their expectations, then they may think of other options. But I want to even better my performance.” the Bengal cricketer added.
