An old friend who now will be on the enemy’s side, Shikhar Dhawan will be facing his former club Sunrisers Hyderabad for the third time this season. The superstar opener had a fantastic time with the Sunrisers right from its inception, including a trophy-winning season with the Orange Army in 2016. He enjoyed a brilliant first season with the Capitals, amassing nearly 500 runs already.

He got off to a slow start and didn’t seem like he was at his best. But slowly “The Gabbar” got into his groove and started amassing runs at regular intervals. He played one of the finest knocks this season against Kolkata Knight Riders at the Eden Gardens, where he registered an unbeaten 97 to help the Capitals chase down a huge total.

More often than not, he is giving the Capitals an electrifying start. His opening partner Prithvi Shaw has not encountered as much success as he did in the previous season, but these both will continue to open for a very long time for the franchise. It will be interesting to see if the 33-year-old something up his sleeve against his former side, having failed in both the league games against them.

At the very picturesque ACA-VDCA stadium, both these sides will be locking horns. It seems like the group stages fizzled out within a blink of an eye, but it managed to thoroughly entertain all the fans. Sunrisers are the only side in the history to have won the IPL through the Eliminator and Shikhar Dhawan back then was an important member in the squad. He would be desperate to replicate the same with the Capitals this time around.
