He came back to lead Chennai Super Kings (CSK) after the franchise returned from a two-year ban in the Indian Premier League (IPL) last year and led them to their third title straightaway. This year, too, the CSK have been doing great under his captaincy and are sitting at the top of the points table with five wins from six games. MS Dhoni is not just a popular cricketer with the CSK but throughout and it became evident when he landed in Jaipur with the team for its next assignment in the tournament.

The former India captain was given a rousing welcome soon after he reached Jaipur as the fans chanted “Dhoni, Dhoni!” The CSK defeated the Kolkata Knight Riders by seven wickets at home on Tuesday after restricting them to just 108 runs in 20 overs with the ever-dangerous Andre Russell remaining not out on 50.

The CSK posted on their official Twitter account a video of the fans cheering MS Dhoni and other members of the yellow jersey squad. Earlier, a photo was also posted of Dhoni taking a nap on the airport floor, making people impressed with his modesty.

CSK beat RR by 8 runs in their first match

The CSK defeated the Royals by eight runs at home on March 31 and Dhoni was the Man of the Match on that occasion for hitting 75 not out in just 46 balls. His team will look to more such stuff from him in the second game against the RR.

Meanwhile, the wicket in Chennai remained under the scanner and even Dhoni and his team expressed disappointment over its slowness. In the first game of this season, RCB were shot out for 70 at the MA Chidambaram Stadium and the CSK had to hard earn those runs. On Tuesday, the KKR also struggled on the wicket in Chennai.

“If you look it looks a good wicket to us. But, I don’t think we want to play on wickets like these because it becomes too low-scoring and it becomes slightly difficult for our batters to get going. And also what happens is that it’s slightly more difficult if you’re batting first. As the dew comes in, it becomes slightly easier in the second half,” ESPNCricinfo quoted Dhoni as saying.
