There has been a lot of buzz surrounding the IPL auction on 18th December. A total of 346 cricketers are expected to be auctioned at Jaipur. The list includes 227 Indian players with Jaydev Unadkat having the highest base price of Rs 1.5 crores. It also has one cricketer each from Ireland, Netherlands as well as the USA.

The big cricketers to go under the hammer include Martin Guptill, Shimron Hetmyer, Brendon McCullum, Carlos Brathwaite, Lasith Malinga, Angelo Mathews and more. The upcoming auction will be a much shorter version as compared to that of the previous year. This time around, most teams already have their core built up.

Confirmation of English players entering the IPL auction

A total of 17 English cricketers are going to enter the auction. The most interesting pick is Sam Curran. The all-rounder proved his versatility as a cricketer in the Test series against India recently. Many other cricketers such as Ales Hales, Jonny Bairstow, and Chris Woakes would also be under the scanner of various franchises.

However since England players are subjected to limited availability, it remains to be seen who gets picked. The World Cup is scheduled to start from on May 30 as England lock horns with South Africa on the opening day of the mega event. Hence, the England Cricket Board (ECB) will want the players back by the first week of May.

There is still uncertainty over the venue of the upcoming IPL season. With the general assembly elections scheduled to take place during the same period, there’s a good chance of the tournament taking place in South Africa. The 2009 season was also shifted there for the same reason.

Here is a complete list of England cricketers

Chris Woakes, Sam Curran, Jonny Bairstow, Alex Hales, Luke Wright, Liam Dawson, Chris Jordan, Joe Denly, Mark Wood, Steve Finn, Tymal Mills, Harry Gurney, Liam Livingstone, Samit Patel, Pat Brown, Laurie Evans, James Overton.
