Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) and Mumbai Indians (MI) will be desperate to open their account this season when they lock horns against each other in a mouth-watering clash at the MA Chinnaswamy Stadium on Thursday. Both the star-studded teams have started their competition on a dismal note. While Mumbai Indians lost to Delhi Capitals at home, Royal Challengers Bangalore were battered by defending champions Chennai Super Kings.
Royal Challengers’ strong batting lineup came up a cropper against the Super Kings after being asked to bat first. On a tough pitch, the Royal Challengers’ batsmen committed hara-kiri and were all out for just 70 with only Parthiv Patel (29) managing to cross the double-digit mark. The target was never going to challenge the Super Kings and although they took their time, eventually chased it down in the 18th over.
On the other hand, the Mumbai Indians bowed down to the brilliance of Rishabh Pant. The left-handed batsman had walked into the crease when the scoreboard was reading 112 for 3 after 13 overs. At that point in time, it had looked like the visitors will hardly score something around 180. However, Pant launched a stunning assault on the home side to guide his team to 213 for 6. The wicketkeeper-batsman slammed an unbeaten 78 off just 27 balls to completely destroy the three-time IPL champions. In reply, Mumbai Indians were all out for 176.
Both the teams had paid the price for slow starts last season and know how important a win in the upcoming game is. Both the sides are full of match-winners and the contest promises to be an exciting affair. As far as the stats are concerned, Mumbai Indians have thoroughly dominated this contest. In 25 meetings between these two teams so far, Mumbai have won 16. In fact, Mumbai have won the 5 of the last six meetings against the RCB.
How will be the weather?
According to AccuWeather, the fans can expect an uninterrupted game as there are no predictions of rain. The temperature during the start of the game will be around 30-degree Celsius and will decrease as the game goes on. It will be around 25-degree Celsius towards the end of the game.
