Kings XI Punjab defeated Rajasthan Royals by 12 runs in their last encounter in Mohali to move to fourth spot on the IPL 2019 points table. The heroes for KXIP in this win was KL Rahul, who made a fifty and captain R Ashwin, who played a good cameo and picked two important wickets of Tripathi and Samson.

Kings XI Punjab will be looking forward to moving in the right direction with the upcoming encounters and David Miller feels that R Ashwin in his role is a huge asset for the team as they look to make it into the playoffs, as they bounced back after successive losses in the last two matches to record their fifth win this IPL.

Ashwin has contributed well with bat and ball, feels Miller

The South African batting star was in awe of his captain’s exploits in the match against Rajasthan franchise and was quoted as saying by Times of India, that, “(Skipper) Ashwin has contributed extremely well with bat and bowl. His bowling has been extremely good. His economy rate has been really low and he’s got wickets as well.”

“He has been a huge asset in our bowling department and again tonight he bowled really well and it was great performance leading from the front,” Miller further added.

Miller also praised the other Ashwin of the team as well, as Murugan Ashwin too picked two wickets and kept the scoring rate down on the big ground. “We tried to use the big side of the boundary to advantage. Both Ashwins bowled extremely well, they kept us in the game in that middle period… Rajasthan needed 50 odd in the last three overs, but our bowlers did their job and we are happy with that,” said Miller.

Miller also provided an update of Moises Henriques, who was supposed to make his KXIP debut against RR and got injured during the practice session. “Unfortunately, it is part of the game if you are going to get injured, you don’t want to see someone get injured. I don’t know how Moises is at the moment. We will have to wait and see and hope he recovers quickly because there is still some important games coming up in IPL,” Miller added.
