The auction for 2019 Indian Premier League went underway on Tuesday. More than 100 players came under the hammer for the highly-anticipated bidding. While some popular names remained unsold, it was a young mystery spinner from Tamil Nadu that stole the show. The winner of the biggest IPL ticket goes by the name Varun Chakravarthy.

The youngster had a base price of INR 20 lakhs to start with. Delhi Capitals was the first team to bid but it didn’t take long for his former franchise Chennai Super Kings to jump in. Both teams had an intense tug-off but decided to give up when the bid went past 3 crores. Rajasthan Royals and Kolkata Knights joined the party. Finally, it was Kings XI Punjab that roped the spinner in for a whopping 8.40 crores. Since then, Varun has been receiving accolades from so many players and experts of the game, including a former CSK player.

While fans and followers set great store by his accurate predictions, The 38-year old posted another tweet to congratulate the youngster. Having acknowledged that his call was right, Badrinath expressed his excitement for the ‘rookie, mystery spinner’ from Chennai.
