<p>Tom Banton is on everyone’s lips and mind at the moment. The wonder boy from Somerset will unquestionably set the auction room ablaze. He was the second-highest run-scorer in the T20 Blast 2019, just behind teammate Babar Azam. Banton scored 549 runs in 13 innings, striking at 161 and averaging 42. His dazzling 52-ball-hundred against Kent brought him into the limelight.</p>
<p>Mentored by former English opener, Marcus Trescothick, Banton was Somerset’s second-highest run-scorer in the domestic One-day Cup campaign. He piled up 454 runs in 11 innings at an average of 41. The 20-year-old grabbed England’s Young Player of the Year award. Soon he received a national call up for the T20Is against New Zealand. He couldn’t score much, but it was his shot-making and charismatic outlook which mesmerized everyone.</p>
<p>In the recently concluded T10 League, Banton scored 162 runs in 5 innings at a strike rate of 200 with couple of half-centuries. His finesse and style carry shades of Kevin Pietersen. The wicket-keeper opener has signed for Brisbane Heat for The Big Bash League and it is expected that IPL franchises will break their banks for Tom Banton.</p>

<h3>Glenn Maxwell</h3>

<p>One of the cleanest strikers of the cricket ball, Glenn Maxwell is renowned for his swashbuckling ability with a bat in hand. An overall strike rate of 160 in T20 cricket proves Maxwell’s mettle as a finisher and a game-changer. The Mumbai Indians brought him in the 2013 auction for a million dollars. Maxwell couldn’t get much game time at MI and was bagged by Kings XI Punjab the following year where he made giant strides as a batsman.</p>
<p>In the 2014 season, Maxi scored a mammoth 552 runs at an average of 34 with a strike rate of 187, as he propelled Punjab through to the finals. He was also a major part of Australia’s World Cup triumph a year later. His talent and temperament were never in question, but his form and consistency have always raised concerns.</p>
<p>The Victorian failed to replicate his form for Punjab in the subsequent seasons and was released in 2017, Delhi brought him in the next season. He was tried at different positions but did not deliver on the expectations, hence Delhi too let go the all-rounder. Maxwell pulled out of the auction last year to prepare for the World Cup.</p>
<p>The 31-year-old has taken a break from cricket owing to mental issues and he would want to make a comeback with a bang. Having one eye on the T20 World Cup, Maxwell would look to gain back the form he left against Sri Lanka. ‘The Big Show’ could well be the X-factor for teams looking for experienced middle-order batters, and thus he would entice massive bids.</p>

<h3>Mitchell Starc</h3>

<p>Mitchell Starc is as lethal as they come. 6 foot 6 inches tall, brawny shoulders, full bore pace and when on top of his mark, Starc can intimidate even the best batsman in the world. The Sydney born pacer is a World Cup winner and the leading wicket-taker in two consecutive World Cups. Starc has played for the Bangalore franchise previously. They brought him in the auctions for the 2014 season.</p>
<p>The left-hander accumulated 14 wickets in 2014 and 20 wickets in 2015. He hasn’t played an IPL game for four years. His last appearance in the IPL was in May 2015 against CSK. Last year he pulled out of the auction as the Australian board wanted their star pacer to be fit and fresh for the World Cup and The Ashes. A year before that Kolkata Knight Riders bought him for INR 9.4 crore but he couldn’t appear owing to an injury.</p>
<p>This price is a testament to Mitchell Starc’s calibre even when he plays only a handful of limited-overs cricket throughout the year. With the T20 World Cup in sight, Australia recalled their premier pacer for the T20 series against Sri Lanka and Pakistan; if he remains fit, the IPL will once again feast on the return of Mitchell Starc.</p>
