Rajasthan Royals (RR), after back-to-back defeats, decided to make quite a few changes to their playing eleven for the match against Mumbai Indians (MI) at the Sheikh Zayed Stadium in Abu Dhabi. Kartik Tyagi, the young fast bowler, also got to make his debut. The youngster was drafted into the side in place of Jaydev Unadkat, who hasn’t been able to make much of an impact.

He came to bowl in the penultimate over of the powerplay and in the third ball, Rohit Sharma deposited him for a six over the backward square leg region. Just when it seemed that Tyagi was getting carried away by the pressure, he got rid of Quinton de Kock in his very first over. De Kock was looking dangerous , having scored 23 runs with the help of three fours and a massive six.

Tyagi got in the short delivery and De Kock couldn’t control the pull shot. The southpaw got a top-edge and Jos Buttler took a simple catch. In the meantime, veteran England all-rounder Ben Stokes made an observation about the speedster.

As per him, Tyagi has a run-up similar to Australia’s Brett Lee while he releases the ball like India’s Ishant Sharma. Stokes took to Twitter and wrote, “Tyagi has a run up like Brett Lee and delivers like Ishant Sharma @rajasthanroyals.”

However, one of the fans on Twitter wasn’t quite happy with Stokes’ comments. The fan replied to Stokes and wrote, “That a compliment or a taunt?” However, the Englishman had a mouth-shutting reply. He reverted and wrote, “It’s neither, it’s an observation.”

Here’s Stokes’ reply

Stokes has been a critical member of the Royals since the 2018 edition of the IPL. He shone for the now-defunct Rising Pune Supergiant after which RR secured his services. He hasn’t played a single game thus far in the ongoing tournament. In fact, Stokes hasn’t taken part in any competitive game since England’s Test against Pakistan way back in the first week of August.

Stokes was in Christchurch, his birthplace, to attend his ailing father. However, he has reached Dubai and is currently serving his quarantine period. The Royals would be desperate to him in the mix.
