Sunrisers Hyderabad, on Saturday, gave a demonstration of how not to lose a T20 match as they failed to chase down a target of 127 against Kings XI Punjab. Chasing the short target in KXIP vs SRH, the Sunrisers got 52 runs in the powerplay itself. They were only 75 runs away from a win in the last 14 overs with all ten wickets in hand. The slow down by SRH batters against the leg-spinners raised the required rate over six. It was followed by quick wickets in the last couple of overs as they lost five wickets for four runs.

Bowlers played a key role for both the teams during this low-scoring thriller. Chris Jordan and Arshadeep Singh claimed three-wicket hauls and bagged two wickets apiece in their respective last overs of the KXIP vs SRH. Jordan earned an impact of +10.48 and got the player of the match award while the uncapped pacer got +8.73. Earlier, Rashid Khan took the big wickets of KL Rahul and Deepak Hooda while going at only 3.5 runs an over. The bowling performance of the Sunrisers Hyderabad‘s spinner earned him an impact of +9.65.

Manish Pandey’s knock was the most impactful performance during KXIP vs SRH but on the negative side as it earned an impact rating of -14.69. Pandey showed a sense of urgency in the previous game but on Saturday, he played quite opposite picking up only 15 singles across the 29 balls he faced. The knock of 20-ball 35 from David Warner got the best match impact as per CricTracker’s Match Impact ratings. Warner thus got an impact rating of +14.28 for his efforts with the bat.

Both the teams used only five bowlers each showing the importance to the conditions they gave in restricting the opponents. The Indian national team pacers Mohammed Shami and Khaleel Ahmed were the only players to end up with a negative bowling impact during the KXIP vs SRH. Khaleel conceded 31 runs without picking a wicket while Shami conceded 34 runs but got rid of Abdul Samad. However, Shami’s opening spell nearly wrapped up the match if not for a slow down by the SRH batters during the middle overs.
