After decimating Kings XI Punjab in their previous game, three-time champions Chennai Super Kings, aiming to pocked another victory, locked horns with Kolkata Knight Riders in Match 21 of IPL 2020 at Sheikh Zayed Stadium, Abu Dhabi.

CSK, after losing the toss, were put to field first by KKR skipper Dinesh Karthik as the Kolkata-based franchise started their innings with a tweaked batting line-up. Instead of Narine, Rahul Tripathi was given the responsibility to open the innings alongside Shubman Gill.

Tripathi’s promotion up the order didn’t disappoint the KKR team management as he slammed a brilliant half-century and hit a flurry of boundaries. Meanwhile, fans saw Narine coming to bat at No.4 after the departure of Gill and Nitish Rana.

CSK hoping to register a third victory by defeating KKR

Narine, as expected, started his innings by slamming a boundary and a maximum, racing to the score of 17 in just minutes. The hard-hitting all-rounder, continuing his boundary-hitting spree, decided to go for another maximum over mid-wicket.

But Ravindra Jadeja and Faf du Plessis combined to take a brilliant catch at the rope off Karn Sharma’s delivery. Fans have already seen several spectacular catches so far in the tournament and this also became one of them. Jadeja, regarded as one of the safest and most agile fielders, ran to his right and dived to pluck a mid-air catch.

However, he soon realized that he was going to touch the rope after taking the catch. With brilliant presence of mind, Jadeja flicked it further to Du Plessis who came there from long-on.

Umpires had a look and it was eventually decided as a clean catch. Both Jadeja and Du Plessis are arguably the best fielders in the Chennai side and they proved their expertise yet again. Along with Nicholas Pooran’s ‘superman’ save at the boundary rope, this catch can also emerge as one of the best fielding shows of the on-going IPL 2020.

Post Narine’s departure, KKR also lost the wicket of Eoin Morgan. Tripathi is still in the middle and Kolkata are aiming to amass a daunting total on the board. The Dinesh Karthik-led side is currently sitting on the fourth position in the points table, having registered two wins in four games.
