Royal Challengers Bangalore are all set to don green jerseys in their 11th fixture of the 13th edition of the Indian Premier League (IPL 2020) against Chennai Super Kings (CSK) on October 25, Sunday at the Dubai International Cricket Stadium. All the players including the support staff will be wearing the green jerseys as against their signature red and golden ones.

Despite the almost elimination of the three-time champions Super Kings, their encounter against the Challengers would be a thrilling one as both the teams have always been fierce opponents and they are captained by two Indian captains, one current and one former. The teams have had a contrasting fate in the T20 extravaganza thus far.

While RCB is currently placed at third spot with only net run rate separating them and the two teams above them, CSK are set to miss the playoffs for the first time in the history of IPL with just three wins in 11 games. The ‘Play Bold’ army has the momentum and appears to be a balanced squad with an imposing win over the Kolkata Knight Riders but Chennai are likely to play more freely without any pressure of points tally or net run rate.

RCB to support the Go Green Initiative

This would not be the first time when the Royal Challengers would be donning the green jersey. This ‘green’ tradition was initiated in 2011, as a campaign towards a greener, sustainable environment, where one match of the season is marked as the ‘green match’. After having achieved carbon neutrality in 2011, RCB has carried out fan-driven and other initiatives under the campaign.

Bangalore outfit is one of the first teams in T20 to have become Carbon positive, and they are rallying to ‘bring back green’. Using the T20 Championship as a platform, the players and the management wish to spread environmental sensitivity amidst the fans and communicate the importance of saving electricity, water, and the environment for a better future.

Announcing this good initiative taken by the Challengers, the official Twitter handle of RCB tweeted, “Bold Diaries: RCB Go Green Initiative. RCB players will sport the Green Jerseys against CSK tomorrow to spread awareness about keeping the planet clean and healthy.”
