For the very first time in Indian Premier League (IPL) history, two matches will take place at the same time. On Friday (October 8), Sunrisers Hyderabad will meet defending champions Mumbai Indians in Abu Dhabi, while the other match would see Royal Challengers Bangalore taking on Delhi Capitals in Dubai. As per the initial schedule, the SRH vs MI game was supposed to get underway at 3:30 PM IST.

However, the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) revised their decision and announced the final two league-stage games will be played simultaneously.  Both matches will have a start time of 7:30 PM IST. Although BCCI didn’t reveal the exact reason behind the decision, reports claimed that it’s done to avoid any unfair advantage to any team.

Apparently, teams playing the last game have the advantage of knowing the exact scenarios. With the race for this IPL 2021 playoffs being so tensed, the final 4 teams could well be decided on the very last day. In order to avoid any advantage, the Indian cricket board reportedly changed the schedule of the first game.

Mumbai Indians have a lot to play for

Interestingly, the fate of three of the four teams playing on the final day has already been decided. While DC and RCB already have secured a place in the playoffs, SRH is out of the playoff. However, Mumbai Indians will have all to play for as a win could see them making a place in the top four. Also, if Chennai Super Kings defeat Punjab Kings in their final league-stage game, DC and RCB would be fighting for the second spot.

For the unversed, teams finishing in the top two will have an additional chance of qualifying for the finals. Meanwhile, it would be quite tricky for fans to watch both games simultaneously. Nevertheless, both games will be broadcasted on different channels which would allow fans to enjoy their preferable match.
