The second leg of the Indian Premier League is all set to commence from September 19 in the UAE. Ahead of the start of the tournament, former India keeper-batter Parthiv Patel feels that Chennai Super Kings and Royal Challengers Bangalore will feel a bit nervous before entering the tournament.

CSK has had a splendid start to their tournament in the Indian leg. They have secured five victories from the seven matches that they have played and are currently placed in the second position of the points table. Parthiv Patel however feels that the team would be in jitter as CSK’s players haven’t had enough game time.

“Definitely I think there would be jitters in CSK’s mind, there would be jitters in RCB’s mind. You know we’re talking about teams like CSK, they wanted games behind their back, someone like Dhoni, like Raina, Like Rayudu, like Robin Uthappa, they’re not playing cricket throughout the year, but they’re just getting into the groove and they got this break,” said Parthiv Patel on Star Sports show ‘Game Plan’.

Teams like RCB you know, need that momentum to start the tournament: Parthiv Patel

Unlike every year, RCB  had an impressive start to its campaign. The team looked dominating throughout the first half of the IPL. Considering the form of the team, the cricketing fraternity and the fans pinned their hopes on RCB for winning the maiden IPL trophy. But Patel is of the opinion that the team needs momentum to start the tournament.

“And teams like RCB you know, they need that momentum to start the tournament which they had, so I think these are the two teams which would be thinking ‘Oh okay we’ll go again, and start from scratch,” Patel asserted.

He also stated that the teams down the points table will look at it as an opportunity to bounce back stronger. And the top teams will be keen on starting well again.

“This break for teams which are at 4,5,6 they would be thinking that they have a chance to come back and teams who are in the 2nd or 3rd would be thinking that they have to start well again,” Parthiv added.

The league phase of the IPL ends on October 8 with the qualifier one to be held on October 10, while the eliminator will take place on October 11. Qualifier 2 is staged for October 13 with the final match set to be played on October 15.
