Cricket fans worldwide must have marked their calendars with the second leg of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2021 being less than a month away. The gala tournament will resume on September 19 and all the remaining matches taking place in the United Arab Emirates (UAE). With 29 of the 60 scheduled games being done and dusted, the gala competition won’t be the same for all the teams.

While some teams are just a couple of wins away from a place in the playoffs, many sides have the challenge to defy the odds. Hence, it would be interesting to see how the remaining tournament pans out. For the unversed, this year’s IPL was scheduled to take place in April-May in India. However, BCCI suspended the competition midway all thanks to the second wave of the COVID-19 virus.

Nevertheless, the second leg of IPL 2021 is just around the corner and all eight sides would be busy finalizing their plans and strategies. Notably, several franchises have received massive blows ahead of the season resumption due to the unavailability of players. While some cricketers withdrew their names due to various reasons, several got ruled out due to injuries.

Meanwhile, let’s look at the list of players unavailable for IPL 2021

Pat Cummins

The Kolkata Knight Riders speedster pulled out his name due to personal reasons. Cummins’ absence would certainly dent KKR’s chances of thriving in the competition.

Jos Buttler

The Rajasthan Royals dasher won’t feature in the UAE leg due to the expected birth of his second child.

Adam Zampa

The Royal Challengers Bangalore leg-spinner won’t take part in IPL 2021 as he has been named in Australia’s T20 World Cup squad. The global tournament will get underway days after IPL’s conclusion.

Kane Richardson

Zampa’s fellow Australian teammate Kane Richardson also plays for RCB in IPL. With the fast bowler also being in T20 World Cup plans, he won’t feature in the Indian tournament.

Riley Meredith

With the young Australian speedster sustaining suffering a side strain, he won’t play for Punjab Kings in IPL 2021.

Jhye Richardson

Jhye Richardson is another Aussies fast bowler who won’t feature in the second leg of IPL 2021. Like Meredith, Richardson is also a part of PBKS side.

Daniel Sams

Australian Daniel Sams has also pulled out of IPL 2021 due to mental health reasons. He is a part of Virat Kohli-led RCB.

Finn Allen

The New Zealand dasher was roped in by Royal Challengers Banglore earlier this season. However, national assignments won’t allow him to feature in the UAE leg.

Jofra Archer

A stubborn elbow injury has kept the England speedster out of action for a while. He won’t don the Rajasthan Royals jersey in the remaining season.
