IPL 2021: Match 11 – 10 Best memes from DC vs PBKS game

After a series of low-scoring games at the Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai, the fans were finally greeted with a high-scoring thriller as Delhi Capitals (DC) locked horns against Punjab Kings (PBKS) in the evening affair on Sunday. Owing to clinical performance in all three facets of the game, Delhi Capitals scripted a stunning victory by six wickets to move to the second position on the points table.

Entering the contest, Delhi Capitals made two changes to their squad as they included Steve Smith and Lukman Meriwala in the Playing XI. Punjab, on the other hand, made just one change as they replaced Murugan Ashwin with Jalaj Saxena. The match commenced with Rishabh Pant winning the toss and electing to bat first. 

Punjab Kings opening pair KL Rahul and Mayank Agarwal took the opposition bowlers to cleaners as they stitched a crucial partnership of 122 runs in just 12.4 overs. The skipper Rahul led from the front as he played a sublime knock of 61 runs off 51 balls. Mayank also gave a glimpse of his power-hitting abilities as he smashed 69 runs in just 36 balls. 

Shikhar Dhawan takes DC home

However, towards the end, the pace of the PBKS innings slowed down and they fell five short of posting 200 runs in their 20 overs. Chasing 196, DC also started on a good note as Prithvi Shaw and Shikhar Dhawan went berserk as they smashed the Punjab bowlers all over the park.

Arshdeep Singh gave the first breakthrough to his team as he brought an end to Shaw’s quickfire knock of 32 runs off 17 runs. Though after this, Delhi stumbled a bit, Shikhar Dhawan took the responsibility of scoring runs as he played one of the finest knocks in the IPL 2021 thus far.

Dhawan smashed 92 runs in just 49 deliveries including 13 boundaries and two maximums at a strike rate of 187.76. Marcus Stoinis and Lalit Yadav applied the finishing touches as they added 27 off 13 and 12 off 6 on the scoreboard. Thus, Delhi successfully chased the target with ten balls remaining.
