A day of milestones for David Warner, yet he also suffered one of the most horrible days by a captain on the field. All started right from the toss after David Warner chose to bat first when MS Dhoni said expecting for dew. Warner struggled to reach a fifty ball fifty, while Manish Pandey scored his fifty at a slightly quicker rate. There were no signs of acceleration, and despite losing only one wicket, SRH were just scoring at under seven and a half per over in the 23rd match of IPL 2021.
While Lungi Ngidi dismissed both Warner and Pandey in quick succession, SRH also stepped up the pace albeit a bit too late. Kane Williamson was the leader of the late acceleration, scoring 26 in 10 balls, followed by Jadhav’s four and a six last two balls.
SRH set a target of 172, which looked like only a few runs short due to the dew factor. But once the chase began, CSK never presented a chance to SRH thinking that they were only a ‘few’ runs short. At the ten-over mark, the opening pair scored 91 runs knocking down half the target. A clear sign of domination shown, with Faf du Plessis in his supreme form scoring third fifty in a row. Rashid Khan started expensively and then, three quick wickets, but it came when the match was done and dusted. With the occasional boundaries under a less required rate, Raina and Jadeja safely ensured there are no further hiccups and steered CSK home.
Here’s a look at the stats produced during the SR
1 – This was the first time Sunrisers Hyderabad batted first in this season, but that couldn’t stop their disastrous run as they continue to stay at the bottom of the table.
4 – David Warner became the fifth player to reach 10000 T20 runs after Chris Gayle, Kieron Pollard, and Shoaib Malik.
200 – David Warner became the eighth player to hit 200 sixes and the fourth such overseas player. Other overseas players who did it are Chris Gayle, AB de Villiers, and Kieron Pollard.

4000 – Yet another milestone. David Warner becomes the first-ever player to reach 4000 IPL runs for Sunrisers Hyderabad. Next highest is Shikhar Dhawan at just 2518 runs.
50 – Reaching his fifty in 50 balls, it was the slowest fifty for David Warner in his IPL career. The previous slowest was 49 balls against Punjab Kings in 2019.
2 – Faf du Plessis becomes the second Chennai Super Kings player to score three consecutive fifty-plus scores, with the first player being Ruturaj Gaikwad in CSK’s last three matches of 2020.
1 – This is the first time Rashid Khan picked 3 or more wickets in an innings this IPL season. Also the first time, Rashid picked 3 wickets in an innings against CSK. His figures of 3/36 are the best by an SRH player against CSK, after Amit Mishra’s 3/26 at Chennai in 2013.
26.6% – The winning percentage of Sunrisers Hyderabad against Chennai Super Kings in IPL, with just 4 wins and 11 losses. This is by far their lowest against any team.
