IPL 2021: Match 37 SRH vs PBKS Preview, Playing XI, Live Streaming Details & Updates

Two teams that are occupying the bottom two places in the points table will battle against each other in Match No.37 of the 2021 edition of the IPL. And, if you are a fan of either the Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) or the Punjab Kings (PBKS) sides, then you would not have had much to smile about this season.

The Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) side has just not ‘showed up’ in the tournament so far. In 8 attempts, they have managed to win just a solitary match in the entire tournament, and have looked totally clueless. And coincidentally, their only win in this tournament came against the Punjab Kings in the IPL first leg, where they thrashed the KL Rahul-led outfit by 9 wickets. But then, that seems like a distant memory, as the SRH side has now lost 4 consecutive matches on the trot after that victory.

SRH changed their captain midway through the season and even dropped the 5th highest run-scorer in IPL history (read David Warner) from their playing XI in the first half. When Warner made a return to the playing XI in the second half of the IPL, he scored a three-ball duck. To make matters worse, their left-arm seamer T Natarajan has been infected with Covid-19.

Also, the SRH side was pummeled by 8 wickets in their opening match of IPL Phase 2 by a spirited Delhi Capitals (DC) side. On the other hand, the Punjab Kings (PBKS) have mastered the art of grabbing defeat from the jaws of victory. In fact, their Head Coach Anil Kumble stated that the way the Punjab side has bottled up games has become a ‘difficult pill’ to swallow.

The Punjab side needed a meager 4 runs off the last over against Rajasthan with 8 wickets in hand in their previous rubber. But still, the Punjab side somehow managed to lose the match by 2 runs. Their openers, KL Rahul and Mayank Agarwal have been in good form, and both of them have plundered runs at will. While Rahul has scored 380 runs in 8 innings at an average of 63.33 this season, Agarwal has amassed 327 runs at an average of 46.71.

On the bowling front, Mohammed Shami has been impressive for the KL Rahul-led side. The veteran right-arm pacer has scalped 11 wickets in the tournament and has scalped his wickets at an excellent strike rate of 17.82. And, young left-arm seamer Arshdeep Singh will enter this match on the back of an excellent five-wicket haul in Punjab’s previous rubber.

So, two teams that are desperately in need of a win will collide. Will the sun shine in the direction of the Sunrisers, or will the Kings emerge on top?

Pitch and Conditions

The Sharjah Cricket Stadium is a belter for batting. The ball will come onto the bat, the boundaries are small, and the batsmen can make merry on this surface. The bowlers will have a tough day at the office.

In spite of a disappointing performance with both bat and ball in their previous outing, Sunrisers Hyderabad is unlikely to change its combination for the match against the Punjab Kings.
