Mumbai Indians’ torrid run in the UAE leg continues as they suffered their third defeat on the trot. Royal Challengers Bangalore are the latest to get the better of the five-time champions. The Virat Kohli-led side put up a comprehensive show in Dubai and walked away with a comfortable 54-run triumph. While Virat Kohli and Glenn Maxwell smashed half-centuries, Harshal Patel stole the show with a stunning hat-trick.

After being asked to bat first, RCB got off to a dismal start with opener Devdutt Padikkal getting out for a duck. Nevertheless, Kohli and Glenn Maxwell came to the party and gave a tough time to MI bowlers. As a result, the Bangalore-based outfit advanced to a commendable total of 165/6.

Although the target was challenging, MI’s chase started off smooth with openers Rohit Sharma and Quinton de Kock adding 57 runs for the first wicket. However, some brilliant bowling from Yuzvendra Chahal and Harshal Patel meant the defending champions lost momentum. The latter took a brilliant hat-trick as MI got bundled out for 111, losing the contest by 54 runs.
