Sunrisers Hyderabad, on Sunday, September 27, racked up their second win the 2021 Indian Premier League. At the Dubai International Cricket Stadium, they defeated the Rajasthan Royals by seven wickets. The Royals, in the meantime, have found themselves in a bit of strife. They stayed at the sixth position in the points table. Four teams are currently locked on eight points from 10 matches.

Samson makes hay for RR

After the Royals elected to bat first, they racked up a competitive score of 164 for the loss of five wickets on the board. Evin Lewis got out early, but Yashasvi Jaiswal and Sanju Samson’s 56-run stand for the second wicket brought them back into the game. The left-handed Jaiswal was going great guns, having scored 36 off 23 with five fours and one six, before Sandeep Sharma castled him.

Samson put his best foot forward and scored 82 off 57 balls with seven fours and three sixes. He also became the new Orange Cap holder in IPL 2021. Liam Livingstone batted in the middle-order, but couldn’t taste success as Rashid Khan nipped him out. Mahipal Lomror scored an unbeaten 29, but he couldn’t go a lot beyond a run-a-ball. The RR bowlers didn’t concede a lot in the death overs.

Jason Roy, who replaced David Warner, and Wriddhiman Saha got SRH off to a flying start. The Orange Army scored 63 runs in the power, though they lost the latter to Lomror. Roy carried to get a half-century off 36 balls to lay the platform for the Sunrisers in their run-chase. Rou went on to score a 42-ball 60 with eight fours and a six. From there on, the SRH innings slowed down to some extent.

Skipper Kane Williamson was in the middle and the onus was on him to stay until the very end. Priyam Garg perished to Mustafizur Rahman as SR picked up their third wicket. The required rate going up when Abhishek Sharma smashed Sakariya over mid-wicket for a six.
