If you are in the Chennai Super Kings (CSK) camp right now, then you will surely have a beaming smile spread across your face. The MS Dhoni-led outfit has grown from strength to strength with every passing match in the 2021 edition of the IPL and is sitting pretty at the top of the points table.

Their young opener, Ruturaj Gaikwad has shown a lot of ‘spark’ this season, Faf du Plessis has continued to prove that he is an extremely valuable asset with the willow in hand for the ‘Men in Yellow’, and Dwayne Bravo is continuing to fox batsmen with changes in pace and length.

In their previous encounter against the Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) side, Chennai romped home with 6 wickets to spare. Josh Hazlewood and Dwayne Bravo were superb with the ball, and the opening duo of Gaikwad and du Plessis once again put on a match-winning opening partnership of 75 runs.

And, the icing on the cake for millions of CSK fans was the fact that Chennai skipper, MS Dhoni finished the match with a six, sending the fans into a tizzy. Kevin Pietersen even reckons that the opposition will encounter problems if Dhoni can finish games in his inimitable style going forward.

The Rajasthan Royals (RR) side has been brilliant in patches, has blown hot and cold this season, and has failed to show consistency. And the result is, the ‘Men in Pink’ are occupying 7th place in the points table with just 4 wins in 11 matches.

Their skipper Sanju Samson has been in excellent form and has scored 452 runs this season at an average of 50.22. And, when Samson is striking the ball sweetly, it is a feast to the eye. Evin Lewis and Yashasvi Jaiswal have provided good starts for the Royals, but the batting unit has failed to fire as a whole.

In their previous match, the Rajasthan side was beaten by a spirited Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) outfit by 7 wickets. After an opening stand of 77 runs between Lewis and Jaiswal, all the other RR willow wielders failed to get going, and the RR side could only post a total of 149 on the board.

Glenn Maxwell’s belligerent fifty wiped out all hopes of victory from the hearts of the RR players, and the Virat Kohli-led outfit romped home without breaking sweat. Sanju Samson and his men have lost 3 consecutive matches in the UAE leg of the IPL and will be desperate for a turnaround.

The Chennai Super Kings have got everything right so far, while the Rajasthan side has not clicked as a unit. Can CSK continue their impressive unbeaten streak in the second leg of the IPL, or will Sanju Samson and his men snap their three-match losing streak in the deserts of the UAE?

Pitch and Conditions

The chasing team has won 4 out of the 5 matches that have been played at the Sheikh Zayed Cricket Stadium in the IPL this year. The batsmen should make sure that they get through the initial phase, and once they do, they can get value for their shots on this surface.

Playing Combinations for RR vs CSK

Rajasthan Royals

Riyan Parag has endured an abysmal run with the bat in the 14th edition of the IPL. The 19-year-old has scored just 93 runs in 10 innings at a poor average of 11.63, and the Rajasthan Royals might want to replace him with Shivam Dube.

Chris Morris has been extremely poor with the ball and went for 50 runs in his 4 overs in Rajasthan’s previous encounter against the Bangalore side. And, Oshane Thomas might get a look in, in place of Morris. The rest of the lineup should remain the same.

Predicted XI: Evin Lewis, Yashasvi Jaiswal, Sanju Samson (C and WK), Liam Livingstone, Mahipal Lomror, Riyan Parag/Shivam Dube, Rahul Tewatia, Chris Morris/Oshane Thomas, Chetan Sakariya, Kartik Tyagi, Mustafizur Rahman

Chennai Super Kings

The CSK side might rest Dwayne Bravo for the match against the Rajasthan Royals. So, Sam Curran might replace Bravo in the playing XI. The rest of the players pick themselves.

Predicted XI: Ruturaj Gaikwad, Faf du Plessis, Moeen Ali, Suresh Raina, Ambati Rayudu, MS Dhoni (c and wk), Ravindra Jadeja, Sam Curran/Dwayne Bravo, Shardul Thakur, Deepak Chahar, Josh Hazlewood
