Rajasthan Royals (RR) couldn’t get over the line against the Punjab Kings (PBKS), losing by four runs in their opening game of the 2021 Indian Premier League (IPL). However, in their second game, Sanju Samson and Co stormed to a three-wicket win against the Delhi Capitals (DC) at the Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai.

It also happened to be their first win over DC after a gap of five matches. After winning the toss and electing to field, the Royals restricted the Capitals to an under-par score of 147 in 20 overs. Barring Rishabh Pant’s 32-ball 51, none of the DC batters could do much of an impact.

In the run-chase, RR lost wickets at regular intervals and found themselves behind the eight-ball. However, they came back from behind, played some audacious strokes and opened their account in the T20 tournament.

Here are the RR Player Ratings for the RR vs DC match:

Jos Buttler- 1/10

Jos Buttler got a peach of an in-dipper from Chris Woakes that led to the opener’s dismissal. All the batsman could do was find an inside edge and Rishabh Pant took a sharp catch behind the wickets.

Manan Vohra- 2.5/10

Manan Vohra crashed a couple of fours and looked good, but he played one shot too many and threw his wicket away. He tried to clear the infield and holed out to Kagiso Rabada, giving Woakes another wicket.

Sanju Samson- 1.5/10

Sanju Samson, after his century, couldn’t deliver much. The Royals’ skipper started with a four, but then he fell prey to Rabada. The batsman went for a cover-drive, giving Rabada his second wicket.

Shivam Dube- 1/10

Shivam Dube had an off-day with the bat in hand. He came to bat at number four and managed a couple of runs. Avesh Khan got rid of the left-hander, leaving the Royals to 36 for four in 7.4 overs.

David Miller- 9.5/10

David Miller played a scintillating knock that helped RR make a comeback into the game. He scored 62 runs off 43 balls with seven fours and two sixes. It was Avesh Khan, who got rid of the big fish in the 16th over.

Riyan Parag- 2.5/10

Riyan Parag couldn’t pull off the big shots on the day and got out after scoring two runs off five balls. He became Avesh Khan’s third victim. With the ball in hand, the youngster gave way 16 runs off two overs.

Rahul Tewatia- 5/10

Rahul Tewatia had a rough day with the ball as he gave away 27 runs off three overs. With the bat in hand, he scored 19 runs off 17 balls with two fours. Kagiso Rabada accounted for his wicket in the 15th over.

Chris Morris- 9/10

Chris Morris picked up the wicket of Lalit Yadav, but his stupendous performance came with the bat. He scored an unbeaten 18-ball 36 with four sixes. He also deposited Rabada for a couple of sixes on the leg side.

Jaydev Unadkat- 9.5/10

Jaydev Unadkat replaced Shreyas Gopal in the eleven and he played his role with precision. He got rid of the top three DC batters- Prithvi Shaw, Shikhar Dhawan and Ajinkya Rahane. Moreover, he gave away 15 runs in his four overs.

Chetan Sakariya- 6/10

Chetan Sakariya opened the bowling and performed reasonably. In his four overs, he gave away 33 runs. Though he couldn’t get a wicket, he made sure to keep the runs in check for a brief while in his spell.

Mustafizur Rahman- 8.5/10

Mustafizur Rahman bamboozled the batters with his slower deliveries. To start with, he dismissed Marcus Stoinis and then removed Tom Curran at the death. He gave away 29 runs off his four overs.
