IPL 2021: Virat Kohli sends ball out of Sharjah stadium with a no-look six off Shardul Thakur

The no-look six is catching up it seems and we now have a new entry to the list of players who can play it. The no-look six has been played by many batters, but in recent times it has been popularised by West Indian batter Andre Fletcher. The new entry to the list of players who have played is none other than Virat Kohli. 

During a match in the second leg of the IPL 2021 in the UAE, Royal Challengers Bangalore came up against Chennai Super Kings at the Sharjah Cricket Ground on Friday, September 24. MS Dhoni won the toss and decided that CSK was going to bowl first. RCB got off to a great start with the bat with Kohli pushing along quite well with Devdutt Padikkal on the other end. 

In the fifth over of the innings, Shardul Thakur came to bowl and Kohli decided to take him on. Thakur bowled a length ball, which was slightly fuller. The ball was beautifully set up and was in the arc of Kohli. The RCB skipper swung hard at it as it travelled a huge distance. The ball landed on the roof of the stands, with a six attaining a distance of 82 meters.

As the reply was seen, it was observed that Kohli didn’t even look at the ball after hitting it. Simon Doull, who was on air, said, “I don’t even need to look, I heard the sound.” Sunil Gavaskar further added, “that’s the sound which the bowlers hear in their nightmares. That is some sound. What a shot! And it has gone sweetly from the bat.”

Deep Dasgupta noted, “That was a no-look shot. He didn’t even look at the ball where it was going. He knew it the moment he hit that shot, he knew that was going.” That was Kohli’s only six during his fifty. He also hit six fours on the way to his 53-run knock which came off 41 balls. He was eventually dismissed by Dwayne Bravo. Interestingly, this was the first time Bravo dismissed him in the IPL and the second time in all T20s.
