IPL 2022 mega auction in Bengaluru saw 204 players getting sold to the ten franchises and there were some surprises as well with the expected names going unsold. Clearly, the franchises have done their homework ahead of the mega auction and the demand for bowlers was clearly visible as well. Deepak Chahar was the most expensive bowler in the IPL 2022 mega auction as he was picked up by the Chennai Super Kings for a whopping INR 14 Crores.

However, during these Covid -19 times, it might not be a surprise if the unsold players come back as replacements. With 14 games in place for each franchise, players might go through injuries and the bowlers that went unsold will be ready to catch in their opportunities.

The IPL 2022 starts on March 26 and ends by May 29 which means the bio bubble fatigue will be a big factor coming into play due to the longevity of the tournament. Jason Roy was the recent player to have pulled out of the upcoming season to spend time with his family and will not be part of the Gujarat Titans for this edition, while Deepak Chahar is already on the verge of missing out on the first half of IPL 2022 due to injury concerns. With all that said, here are 5 bowlers who can come in as replacement signings.

Ishant Sharma has played for various franchises since the inaugural edition and he was expected to be picked up some franchise in the IPL 2022 mega auction. However, none of the franchises showed interest in the lanky pacer despite his international experience. Ishant was part of the Delhi Capitals squad in the previous edition of IPL 2021 but could play only three games.

The T20 format has never been the comfort zone for the 33-year-old, however, he has improved his numbers with being economical in the powerplay and hasn’t favoured bowling in the death overs. The right-arm seamer is out of the Indian Test squad as well with the management looking to give chances to younger bowlers.

Ishant has so far picked up 72 wickets in 93 IPL games at an economy rate of 8.11 at an average of 37.5. The Delhi lad could be very effective with the new ball and has the ability to keep hitting the right lengths. Some franchises who will be eyeing experience in their bowling department will definitely go for Ishant as a replacement signing.
