IPL 2022: 5 Reasons why LSG can win the trophy this season

The Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) have got off to a fine start in IPL 2022 with three wins in five league matches, and are positioned at the third spot in the points table. After securing a loss in their tournament opener against Gujarat Titans (GT), they won three consecutive games but faced a loss in their previous game against Rajasthan Royals (RR).

The biggest positives for LSG in the previous game against RR were the bowling performances in the powerplay overs and the return of one of the key players, Marcus Stoinis. After a brilliant display in the powerplay overs, they gave away around 65-70 runs in 10 overs, which was not bad for a ground like the Wankhede. In the batting department, Stoinis came in at number 8 and smashed 38* off 17 balls, but the team lost the game by a whisker. Let’s take a look at –

1) Quality all-rounders

The team management has put together a strong team that has covered its bases in both departments of the game. The two all-rounders, Krunal Pandya and Jason Holder, already have proved their skills in the previous editions of the IPL and can play a crucial role to clinch the title victory.

In three appearances, Holder has grabbed five wickets and contributed 16 runs, while Krunal has contributed 68 runs and picked up three wickets in five matches. The other players, who can come in handy to play this role are, Marcus Stoinis and Deepak Hooda.

Although Deepak Hooda has not bowled quite often, he can be a steady customer in the middle overs. As opposed to him, Stoinis is an experienced bowler in this format and also has a total of 30 wickets in the IPL, and is expected to bowl in the upcoming matches.
